About Dr. George Raad
Dr. George Raad received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1982.
Dr. Raad completed his Internship and Residency and was elected Chief Resident at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He is board certified in Family Medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Raad also specializes in addiction medicine caring for patients that need help with detoxification and addiction treatment. He has been the recipient of a national award as the Medical Director of Mercy Horizons Detoxification Program.
Dr. Raad has treated over 28,000 moderate to high acuity patients during his thirty-five plus year career while the Medical Director of Atrium Healthcare’s medical detoxification program. Dr. Raad was one of the first providers in NC to utilize Suboxone and single agent Buprenorphine to treat opioid use disorder.
He is the past recipient of the prestigious North Carolina Jody Kellerman award for excellence in the field of substance abuse treatment. Dr. Raad is a much sought-after trainer and expert in the field of substance use disorders. He has presented to many varied professional groups and has appeared on numerous TV and News reports on addiction. After 35 years of running his own private family medicine practice, concierge medical practice and a busy medical research group he is excited about joining the health care team at Ballantyne Medical Associates®® in Charlotte NC.
