Pelleve Q & A
What age-related facial concerns are treated by Pellevé?
- Wrinkles around the mouth (smile lines, smoker’s lines)
- Nasolabial folds (wrinkles that run from each side of the nose to the corners of your mouth)
- Lines or folds between the eyebrows (frown lines)
- Lines on the forehead
- Crow’s feet
- Loose skin above or below the eye
How does Pellevé work?
Pellevé delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy through a GlideSafe® handpiece that was specially developed for use on delicate skin, including skin around your eyes. Radiofrequency energy passes safely through your skin and into deep tissues below, where it heats the tissues to a controlled temperature.
The heat makes existing collagen contract, which causes a tightening effect. Then it stimulates production of new collagen and elastin — the proteins that make skin strong and elastic. As the new proteins develop and move up through the deeper layers toward the outer skin, they naturally diminish wrinkles, tighten skin, and result in a more youthful appearance.
What can you expect during treatment?
Pellevé is a comfortable procedure that many patients describe as feeling like a hot stone massage. It takes about 45-60 minutes to treat an entire face, so if you’re having a smaller area treated, such as smile lines or skin under the eyes, your procedure may only take 30 minutes.
It’s normal for skin to be slightly red after the procedure, but that won’t last long. You can get back to your normal activities as soon as you’re finished.
